Sharon + Chris - Beach Wedding Photography at Oak Island, North Carolina

Sharon and Chris eloped, surrounded just by their closest family, in a beautiful Beach Ceremony in Oak Island, North Carolina. When Sharon first contacted me, we vibed instantly which I loved, so I couldn't wait to be their Wedding photographer in the Wilmington Area. It rained all day, but just before they got ready to say their vows, the sky opened up and the sun came through for the two of them - if thats not a sign I don't know what is! But how did we get here? 
 

"Our kids are the same age, just days apart, and knew each other through mutual friends. We have a close mutual friend, Anita - the mother of the kids joining our kids together - who made us each jump through a few hoops before she would give him my number after we bumped into each other a few more times that spring. She asked my daughter if it would be fun if I dated Noah's dad and Brooke thought that was hilarious - and awesome. We met for what was supposed to be just a drink in June 2014, talked for hours and that was it."

Their kids are both amazing and both serves as maid of honor and best man for them. After the wedding and the portraits were over and we were headed to the reception, at the beach house they rented, i turned around and noticed them all in a huge group hug - absolute bliss! 
 

"I took her and the kids to the trail where we took our first hike all together three years ago. There is a rock overlooking the river halfway through and we have a picture of the 4 of us there from the first hike. I proposed at the same rock and then had her parents and our friends meet us at the pub where we had our first date. The kids knew the plan but Sharon didn't have a clue." 

I absolutely love elopements because they are such a small and intimate affair. The focus is just on the two of you, without all the bells and whistles. It's just the two of you and your closest loved ones, swearing your love and trust to one another. Sharon has some tips for Brides planning their wedding: "My only tip is one I would give to anyone no matter what kind of wedding they are planning, small or large, elopement or years in the making: it is your day about the two of you joining together. Keep that the focus and make it what you want, not what everyone else wants. Make it be a reflection of the two of you and the life you are building."
