Tips + Bouquet Inspiration for your Spring Wedding! - Raleigh Wedding Photographer
I love Spring Weddings and this year I am actually going to be a spring bride so I am extra excited. I promised you guys that I would take you along on my wedding planning journey, so here we go! I have been a Wedding Photographer in Raleigh for a couple of years now and have had the pleasure to see GORGEOUS bouquets. As some of you may know I am obsessed with peonies and what do you know, they bloom in spring - jackpot!
Make it personal!
Do you have special memories attached to certain flowers? Maybe it's because of a song, a movie or because a late relative loved a particular one. Did your fiancee bring you pink roses on your first Valentines Day together? Does your grandmother grow hydrangea in her garden? Does your mom wear gardenia-scented perfume? Don't just choose a flower or a color. If you make it personal, your bouquet will instantly have a more special meaning to you!
Make sure you and your florist are on the same page!
Make sure you interview your florist just like you interview your other wedding vendors. See what they have done before, stalk their instagram and stalk their tagged images and other social media. Do you like what you see? Do you guys see eye to eye and does your florist understand your vision? Try to find 1 definite of what you want your bouquet to look like (with a little wiggle room), instead of 12 different ones that leave room for interpretation! It's super important to have a connection and understanding with your florist since you often times don't see your bouquet until the day of!
Pick Flowers that are in Season!
Weddings are expensive and so are flowers - I totally get it! But you can keep your budget in check by finding out which flowers are in bloom around your wedding day! If you get married in Spring, Tulips, Bluebells, Puschkinia, Pleione, are just a couple of the flowers that are in season! Pink Roses, of course my favorite, Peonies, and Sweat Peas are also flowers to consider!
Repurpose your bouquets at the reception!
Make your bouquets double duty! During the reception, you and your bridesmaids won't be walking around with your flowers in hand - so don't waste them and turn them into center pieces! Make sure to have vases ready for the bouquets so you can just drop them off in the right spot or let your wedding planner know to collect the bouquets before the guests are let into the reception area to put them in the right place. Boom - you just saved money on extra decorations and the boquets won't lie around and just wilt!
Dry your bouquet to have it as decor and a keepsake!
I am a SUCKER for real flowers - I love the way they smell, feel, look and I am going to let you in on a little secret - I actually collect all the bouquets my Fiancee ever bought me. Once they start to wilt, I hang them up to dry and than put them on a designated shelf. That way, every time I look up I get happy all over again and frankly, I just really love the look of it!
